There Is So Much Blue
by Y. Dan Rubinstein
A spoken word piece inspired by the wild beauty of Sardegna, capturing the endless blue where sea and sky meet.
Lyrics
There is so much blue
Between the sky
and the Azure sea
Cut by the jagged dagger
Of the Mediterranean maquis
Hardy evergreen shrubs
Rooted in centuries of drought
Even their names sound ancient
Phoenician juniper, and Cistus
I scale the grippy granite
Gigantic stairs
Leading to the top
Of this barren island
From which I can see
Everything

Inspiration & Story
On a low wind day, we sailed to the Maddalena archipelago, taking the dinghy to nearby Isola Spargi.
There is so much blue… between the sky and the azure sea.
This original piece blends spoken word poetry with an instrumental track inspired by the wild beauty of Sardegna. It captures the jagged maquis, the granite boulders, and the endless horizons — a climb toward perspective, where sea and sky meet in infinite blue.
Filmed among the Mediterranean maquis — hardy evergreen shrubs adapted to Sardegna’s dry, hot landscape — this video reflects on timeless resilience. Even their names sound ancient: Phoenician juniper, Cistus, rooted in fire and stone.
As the granite rises in giant staircases, step by step, we climb toward the island’s crown — and from the top, everything unfolds.
