Tethered

by Y. Dan Rubinstein

A song about standing firm against the elements, inspired by the wild beauty of northern Sardegna and the natural pools of Budelli.

Lyrics

Tethered Verse Tethered tight I face the gale Head on Unflinching No time to fail Waves like fists They come and go Crashing hard But I won't fold Chorus Tethered I hold I stay I stand Against the break Against the sand Azure skies and granite ground Tethered here I won't back down Verse 2 Crystal waters breathing slow In and out They ebb They flow Quartz cuts sharp against the blue This tether holds It's all that's true Prechorus Yellow sands in the distance lie A sailboat whispers Slicing sky Chorus Tethered I hold I stay I stand Against the break Against the sand Azure skies and granite ground Tethered here I won't back down Bridge Volcanic scars Ancient breath Erosion's hymn A song of death But I'm alive Each song I sing through chaos wild the calm it brings © Y. Inspiration & Story

Join me on a day in the wild beauty of northern Sardegna — swimming, stand-up paddling, short hikes, and sweeping drone views over dramatic coastline. This video is a visual poem in motion, set against the raw power of wind, waves, and ancient stone. One highlight of the journey is the Piscine Naturali di Budelli (Natural Pools of Budelli). These are not man-made pools but rock-worn basins carved by wind, waves, and erosion in Budelli's granite coast. The water there is so clear and shallow that it looks like a mirror of sky and stone. Budelli is part of the Arcipelago di La Maddalena, a protected national park off the northeast coast of Sardinia. Because of its ecological fragility, since 1994 both beach access and swimming are prohibited in certain zones (including the famous "Pink Beach") to preserve the habitat and unique sand composed of coral and shell fragments. When you watch the footage, you'll see natural rock "pools" along the shoreline (often called Le Piscine), shallow basins protected from strong currents by the surrounding rock formations. The interplay of granite, quartz, and volcanic stone gives Budelli its rugged texture and beauty. I hope this video transports you — even just a little — into that moment between sea and stone, wind and tether, distance and connection.
